Clothing Decisions:
Solid
colors are extremely important. Solid Colors Draw
the attention to the focal point of your portrait - your face,
or faces - rather than distracting from the focal point with busy
patterns, stripes, and bright colors. Color coordination lends
harmony. While all clothing does not have to match, the colors
should be harmonious, so that one person will not dominate the
scene. Long sleeves are best for adults and older children. It
is important to choose clothing that will complement the style
of portrait you are planning.

Make-up and Hair Styling:
For
women, fondation is a must. It evens skin tones
and softens minor imperfections. If you don't normally wear make-up,
we ask that along with your foundation, you apply a bit of mascara
and lip gloss. If you normally wear make-up, wear it the way you
like it. We have found, especially in the case of children, not
to schedule your session immediately following a haircut. A week
later is generally best. Adults know when their hair looks good!
•
Glasses:
We recommend
you borrow a pair of frames from your eye-care professional. This
will avoid removing eye glass glare from your portraits.
•
Children:
Children
are very precious and special. They require some preparation and
planning when they are to be photographed.
It
is always best when photographing children, to work around their
time schedule. Mornings are usually best, or right after they
are up from a nap and have been fed. It may be a good idea to
bring snacks for your child, and their favorite toys.
If
you are having more than one child photographed, make sure their
outfits blend together.Consider laying out what they will be wearing
on the bed the day before to make sure nothing stands out and
everything blends. Remember, you want to see your children, not
what they are wearing!
To
get masterful portraits of your child, it takes a lot of work
and collaboration between the photographer and the parents. We
look forward to meeting you, and getting cherished photographs
of your child that you will treasure forever.
